Good Food and Good Company

Heading up Y Mountain this week I found my dog's kryptonite: heat. Her coat is very thin and the weather has been getting pleasantly warmer. I think it was in the mid eighties when we went on this hike. After about five minutes she started laying down in every patch of shade we came across. She'd just collapse. I was really surprised because she is normally a boundless source of energy. We made it to the top but I had to steer clear of the shade.

Another really busy week for the business meant that I spent a lot of time in my office not talking to anyone. Some people are wired for that kind of work but I have found that I am definitely not one of them. Being able to get out into mountains and hike has been a great way for me to decompress in addition to being good exercise. Church was more comfortable this Sunday because my suit-pants fit!

Becca and I tried Korean food for date night this week. We had been meaning to try this little Korean restaurant in Provo for years and we finally decided to go. We were cautiously optimistic. Neither of us had ever tried Korean food before. We were pleasantly surprised! We both got the pork bulogi and walked away very happy. The food includes no MSG (which gives Becca head-aches in addition to just being plain bad for you) and was very reasonably priced; the service was also good. If you ever decide to go to the Sam Hawk restaurant in Provo, don't be fooled by the lack of ambiance. The food is great!

Becca and I woke up early Saturday morning to participate in the the ground breaking ceremony of the Provo City Center Temple. I was very pleased when the Church announced in April that the old Provo Tabernacle, which had suffered a bad fire, would be rebuilt as another temple. It was a wonderful ceremony. Both of us are excited to participate in the dedication in a few years and be some of the first to serve in this temple. The drawing above is what the temple should look like when it's done.

After the ground breaking ceremony we had a Elders' Quorum barbecue at the pavilion across the street from our chapel. We brought the dogs along and the little kids got a big kick out of them. It was funny to watch them take turns walking Grover, watch Grover break free, and then watch a pack of Primary kids chase after him. Lucy end up playfully nipping three or four kids. There were tears. To say sorry, Becca made her fabulous s'more cup cakes.

 Saturday was an even better day because Garit and Lorena arrived safe and sound! They traveled for fifteen hours and got to our house at after midnight. We cleaned up the room and installed curtains so they could have some privacy. We were all happy the next day that Church started at 1:00pm.

 

It was good to talk to Elder Boothe on Sunday. He's a seasoned missionary now. We wish him the best in his new area. He's had a great impact on a lot of people's lives and we are proud of him and his efforts.

 

It was strange to get together with family on Mother's Day but not have any of our mothers or grandmothers present. We hope you all got your cards from us on time. We appreciate you and acknowledge that you are and will always be a part of us, whether you are near or far.
